lies... all lies...

Well, last night I watched the Superbowl. Yes- me- the girl who looks at sports on telly and says "why is there sports on telly?" but something told me I should watch, maybe it was the thought of having to sift through like 200 twitter tweets when I woke up this morning- maybe because I just felt like it was time. Whatever, it wasn't as hard to follow as I thought it would be, and it meant I was pretty much already up for the week recap of the Stage Right Show.

I have come to the firm conclusion that I have been fed lies- I've been led to believe throughout my life, that right-wing conservatives are stuffy, uncaring people. I don't know how, and I don't know by who- but its simply not true... going by the people I've been talking to, or listening to- they are people who care deeply- and they've been lovely to talk to.

Here's the real reason I'm writing:Christianity. People, and not just conservatives, have been criticized for holding onto Christian values- but why? Is there something wrong with having faith? I know that, at least here in the UK, that even though we are a Christian country... we actually have less freedom to express our beliefs than everyone else. Why? In fear that we'll offend someone. Boo-friggen-hoo! For instance- if you're a Muslim, or a Hindu, and you wish to foster they'll sweep you up and, as long as you pass your CRB you'll probably be approved like that. However, they're very wary of Christians. Personally, I think its ridiculous! Did you know that if you wouldn't let children watch Harry Potter- you probably won't be approved for foster care? And there was also the case from a few years back, when a Christian foster couple wouldn't actively promote homosexuality... or how about when they struck off a foster carer because she didn't try hard enough to stop a sixteen year old girl from converting to Christianity! A School even scolded a child for talking about Jesus! WTF?! Anyone can tell that's messed up!

That's not even the end of it- over Christmas my Mom found a book about the nativity which did not mention God, not once. Many schools aren't even allowed to perform the Nativity- its not about Christmas anymore- its "the winter holiday" which happens to share its name with ours. Have people forgotten that holidays are just as they sound? HoliDays. Its about the birth of Christ- but you can be pretty hard pressed to find Christmas cards that don't have Santa Claus or penguins on them.

Not much else to say at the moment... I'm pretty tired- I'll give this a going over when I wake up, and post then. Please, please please if you're reading- leave me a comment- even if its just to tell me someones reading...

  1. Someone's reading, thanks to a tweet I can no longer find...oh well. @bteacher99

Just wanted to say that I'm upset (and completely baffled as to how it's even possible) that a book about the Nativity (aka birth of Jesus) can have no mention of God. Yeesh!
