WARNING- the following blog post displays some of my fangirl side, it is very easy to tell that I am a total child. You have been warned.
Starfury: T2 was a very, very awesome first convention! So, I travelled down to the hotel (at a very reasonable hour :) ) on Friday 11th June, and it all went smoothly; no drama, just travelling. I had a reserved seat for once, which was nice as it meant I didn't end up sitting in the corridor as i often end up doing.
Whilst at the convention I met some very lovely people, some of whom I already knew online, or through someone else online, and there were even a few (who I'm pretty sure I freaked out) who I met standing in queues.
The guests were all fantastically gorgeous personalities :) There wasn't a weak link between them. Most people who know me, know that I went for Chuck and Firefly guests (having, unfortunately, not seen any Sarah Connor yet) and so I was expecting Adam Baldwin, Bonita Friedericy and Mark Sheppard (Yvonne Strahovski sadly couldn't come due to work commitments- which isn't sad!) however, we were very lucky to to be surprised with Julia Ling!
Now, don't get me wrong- I loved listening to the other guys too! I had seen all of them in other shows, and they all had very interesting things to say in their panels. Which brings me to....
THE PANELS
I'll start off with the happy couple- Bonnie and John. Hil-Fricken-Larious. Do NOT let Bonnie's portrayal of General Beckman fool you- Bonita is, just about, the most energetic and hilarious lady in the world! These two guys were always on the move! They paid absolutely no attention to the mic that was set up for fans to ask questions, opting instead to take it in turns to leap to and from the stage and race across the room to take their mics to the question.
I had a great time at their panel. Because of the *football* World Cup match between England and USA, there was a lot of football talk throughout the convention- John made a reference to it, earning him a massive collective "FOOTBALL!" from the audience when he had the gall to call it 'soccer', and he declared he was frightened, and ran out of the room to get Pringles to appease us. He comes back out and asks "who's the angriest?" so, I, having not eaten for hours, raised my hand- apparently first because he was like 'Stand up- everyone look- she is the angriest- can't you just see the rage?' (words to that effect) so I stood up and grinned and waved at everyone (hopefully looking like the cutest little girl they ever did see, well not really...but seriously...)The important part is- I got free Pringles from the green room :P
Thomas Dekker is a lovely guy, and interesting, as is Brian Austin Green- and, although I haven't seen the majority of their work, i thoroughly enjoyed their panels. Dekker had a lot to say about British and European cinema and also talked quite a bit about directors- which was fantastic, and Green talked a little about his kid and the funny or die video highlighting budget cuts in the public school system.
What can I say about the panel by Adam, Julia and Mark? There is just far too much to mention all of it- I can give a few highlights... Mark having a go at our American cousins about them calling croissants 'cresent rolls', that was pretty funny- when they spoke about Mark on Supernatural making out with Jim Beaver also fairly amusing, or how about... Adam Baldwin singing 'Part of your World' from Disney's The Little Mermaid? I asked them a Chuck referencing question, which I'm certain none of them got the reference to- so it just sounded like a weird question- "If you had to pick one sandwich to bring to a deserted island, which would you pick, and why?" it did turn out some interesting answers though- especially from Julia Ling, who evidently, plays with her food :P Adam, being Adam, of course turns it round on me 'well what would YOU pick?' no hesitation- 'Subway footlong Italian with ham, beef, steak and cheese.' "the sponsors would love you." (side note- does that mean I can be on the show? come on Subway- poke em til they let me guest! no? okay, worth a try)
There were more panels, but- I've told you a lot already, so if you want to know more, you'll have to talk to me! Next subject... the bloody football. Bloody Mark and his Bloody football that we didn't even bloody win and was a waste of time- we who don't care about football had nothing to do for hours but watch family guy- which I can't stand!! All for a match that was so feeble that blind kittens could have beaten it to a pulp in less than 15 seconds. I could almost be happy about it if we had handed USA's arse to them on a silver platter and make them eat- but it was just such a humongous failure that it just made me mad and stamp my little feet like a toddler.Let me see... what else happened?I got 3rd place in the music video competition (I'm pretty sure there was only 3 entries, but still- I got a certificate type thing with all the guest autographs on it- so I totally don't care hehe. Oh, and freaking out the guys who were stood in front and behind me in the autograph queue was also a major highlight for me. On the Saturday night I dressed up as River Tam from Firefly- however I didn't enter the competition; not this time, next time I'll hopefully have a better costume :)
I got 3 photos- 2 with Adam Baldwin and one with Mark Sheppard- only in one of these photos do I look regular sized and not like a 12 year old, but hey- that's life!Winding down this very unstructured piece of T2 awesomeness all I can say is a ginormous thank you everyone there- the guests, the attendees- the staff!!!!! Sean, you put on one heck of a weekend party! And I truly hope I can come along next year to T3 and have just as much fun :)

ReplyDelete:-) Hello from the 'fruit cake lady' [GG]. Adam claims his singing voice isn't that good, but that bit from 'Little Mermaid'; was lovely and he sorta gave us 'The Hero of Canton' as well. And bought drinks all around in the bar.
ReplyDeleteSo when is #T3?
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling us how you really feel about football :)
